Apple App Developers Paid $320 Billion Since 2008, $60 Billion In 2022 Alone

Apple today (11th January ’23) announced a major milestone. The company has paid out over $320 billion since 2008 to App developers. This is the amount App developers have earned since 2008 via in-app purchases only and does not include the billions that they would have earned via ad revenue.

The year 2022 was pretty significant for Apple and its developer community. This year Apple achieved record numbers and has paid out over $60 billion in just 2022. Apple charges a commission of around 15% – 30% which would mark their revenue from the App Store. Many new Apps made the Top Charts this calendar year with Apps like BeReal and Apex Legends staying on the Top Charts for a long time.

The App Store received more than 650 million visitors from 175 regions worldwide every single week. Every single week. That’s a huge number. Another point to be noted is App developers usually are available on both platforms – App Store and Play Store and most Apps generate almost similar revenues across both platforms. If you consider the Play Store as well, although official numbers have not been released, it can be estimated that even the Play Store would have paid out another $60 billion (less or more) to its App developers during 2022. This means a total of $120 billion was paid out to the overall App developer community at large in 2022.

A great success! We wish this record is broken in ‘23.
